For elderly dogs
We believe elderly dogs have specific needs, that can be met only by creating an appropriate environment, with assistance provided by knowledgeable personnel.
Municipal dog shelters of the island are hugely overcrowded. Therefore, conditions are not optimal for dogs that, due to the age, are likely be facing various illnesses, mobility problems, mental and emotional disorders. In the aim of alleviating these issues, PicoDogs embarked on the venture of building a centre dedicated to elderly dogs coming from the dog shelters of the entire island of Pico. Here the dogs find a caring and supportive environment until the end of their journey.
The project was planned with the aid of an architect, to comply with the current legislation and, beyond that, to fulfill with the needs of our beloved old dogs.
